We were a little troubled about the prospect of building a custom home. Over the years we had heard more than a few horror stories. We were pleasantly surprised when we first met with Chris Cokins. He recommended that we get several bids from other builders. He only asked that we compare apples to apples. We did get 4 other bids and were so impressed with Chris that we decided on C+A Builders. We never once second guessed our decision. Chris and his team made our experience flow seamlessly.
Our dialog with Chris and his team was simplified due to the interactive website. We always knew our wishes and concerns were being addressed in a timely manner. We were apprised of the dates that our selections were due well in advance and given great feedback about our decisions.
We love our home. We were so happy with the outcome. Not only is it beautiful but having seen the process know that it is structurally superior.
I love that Chris was always thinking out of the box, thinking of ways to enhance our home design to make it more livable. An example was, when we were framing, he walked my into my pantry, showed me the actual usable space, and made me realize it was not functionally designed. He wound up moving a wall over, which allowed for a very functional pantry space, but also allowed us to barrel our entry ceiling and still have adequate room in our dining room.
Any time I had a concern, question or needed input, Chris was right there. And that continues 2 years later. Chris was never shy about making sure we did not get taken advantage of by any of the contractors that he brought on board. Chris, Christian, Jeff and Jody were at our home all the time, constantly making sure the contractors were doing things appropriately. And Chris treated us as family first, clients second. He helped us create a home that lives well and aesthetically just makes me smile.
We love how it looks, but the important thing is it lives as we hoped it would.
I was expecting a customized finished product, but I was blown away by the professionalism and amount of care that went into every detail of our project. I knew everything that was going on at all times. Any minor or major changes were always discussed and well thought out with rational minds and communication.
It is evident that Chris has a solid relationship with his vendors. They drop everything to come and work on his projects and treat Chris with extreme respect. Chris honors and respects his vendors, which creates a phenomenal working relationship. There were times when I would call one of the guys after hours, and they would jump to make me feel better or solve the issue. I never felt like an issue would go unresolved. The entire team was always willing and able to help. To see three grown men stare at a light fixture that would not straight was comical.
Chris and his team take great pride in their work. They do not settle for anything but the best and treat every customer like family!
II expected that a builder would be involved in the project, but did not expect that he would take ownership of the project. Chris built our house as if he was building it for himself. They helped us save money every chance they had. They advised us on where to spend the money, where to save it. Chris and his team represented our best interest throughout the project, no doubt.
This was our first time to build, so we had many questions, and often did not have answers to the questions that were asked of us. Chris and his team had incredible patience for all of our questions, and helped us make appropriate decisions. WWCCD is a term I developed as a default answer to questions I couldn’t answer. That stands for “what would Chris Cokins do?” He never steered us wrong.
This was our first time to build. We were warned that building a house is equivalent in stress level to getting a divorce. Not the case, not with C&A. I think the highest reference you can get is repeat business. If we were to build again, it would be w/ C&A, no doubt.
Chris knows when something will work and when it won’t and that saves a lot of cost and headaches. The best extras are their knowledge and experience. They are prompt exact with all information and details. I never came to the construction site 10 times during the entire process. Now almost five years later our home looks new and we have had little to no issues the entire time.
Chris knows his business. He knows the best vendors by category to go to for the fairest price and best job. His experience building luxurious homes shows at every turn. Vendors respond to clients that pay well and are fair to deal with. We heard this over and over from the vendors that C&A used!
C&A not only exceeded our expectation during the entire construction process but afterwards as well. From Chris you will learn the meaning of “trusting your builder.” They provided first class results, and then some with some of the finest subcontractors we have ever seen. Chris knows who can do what you need done and who can’t … every step of the way.
Everything Chris did during the entire project was special. I believe looking back that Chris and Amber are special and it projects throughout their whole company. We love our home and remain just as excited today as the day we moved in. Not only have we referred C&A to friends but are continually on the lookout for people that are looking for that “just right” contractor … to refer them to C&A Builders.
